Do
- go by yourself if you are adventurous
and have plenty of time. We went by an
-
organised tour and
didn't always like the fixed itinerary;
- camp, as it brings you closer to nature and animals. We
loved it!
- bring a zoom lens;
- buy Lonely Planet's Watching Wildlife East Africa;
- discover the Turkana area and Central Island (not by yourself,
however);
- make gamedrives in Samburu National Park, where we saw
plenty of wildlife;
- take the train from Nairobi to Mombasa;
- purchase craftswork directly from the makers, at the airport
you can have it
-
wrapped. We
bought a 3 feet / 1 meter giraffe and he made it home safe.
Don't
-
forget to lock your tent, baboons will take all your stuff;
- leave you warm clothes at home, it can be very cold in
June, July and August
-
(except for the beach and Turkana).
