Do
- learn Spanish before going to Cuba,
it will enrich your trip;
- rent a car and buy a good map;
- stay in casas particulares (private rooms), a good way
to learn more about Cuban
- culture and get to know the
people, we loved it!
- spend some days in Havana, Trinidad and Santiago de Cuba;
- visit a cigar factory;
- walk one of the many fantastic nature trails around Viñales;
- take the effort and drive to Baracoa, it's a nice, small
town;
- see the Che Guevara monument in Santa Clara;
Don't
-
stay at the Lido Hotel in Havana. It is noisy and the water
is always cold;
- go in August: IT'S HOT AND HUMID and no airco will make
up for this;
- visit Camaguey / Holguin if you lack time, there is not
much to
see;
- leave stuff in your car, especially
if the car has a soft top, it will get stolen! We
-
left nothing but they took our rear-view mirror and other
parts of
the car.
